….And Everyone’s A DJ Records of 2010, so far.

It struck me the other day that we were 6 whole calendar months, or half way spun around the fire in the sky as the naked indian chief that visits me in my dreams would say, so I thought to myself I’d put together a list of the 10 best albums I’ve heard this year.

The order is pretty much right, I him’d and haw’d about some placings, but the gist is basically all 10 of these albums are brillopads, and many, though hopefully not all will feature in my end of year run down.

Now go out and buy them.

The Black Keys – Brothers

My previous experiences with Black Keys records it has taken me a while to get into them, and I sometimes will just lose patience, however with this bad boy, I was psyched for it, and when it arrived it didn’t disapoint. Oddly for such a record, the standout track for me doesn’t present itself until near the very end.

Ash – A-Z Series

Strictly speaking this was released in 2009, but it is only once some flesh was added to the bones that it became the classic I’d hoped. The dripfed nature of it, means that it could still get better.

The Hold Steady – Heaven Is Whenever

This was a real grower. At first I was a little bit dissapointed, but the more time I gave it, the better it got. Settleing nicely in between some of their best work.

LCD Soundsystem – This Is Happening

If this really is to be James Murphy’s swansong, then what a way to go out, and what a cannon he leaves behind.

Beach House – Teen Dream

Timeless, I can seriously see myself sticking this record on in 10 years, and still finding new wonders.

Caribou – Swim

Similar to Teen Dream, this record just gives and gives and gives and gives…….

Foals – Total Life Forever

I never thought I’d see myself liking a Foals record, but here we are, not so much in love, but definetly on speaking terms. We occasionally text each other.

Tame Impala – Innerspeaker

Like finding an amazing record in your dads collection, except it’s not really. It’s the futurepast. Now.

Example – Won’t Go Quietly

This would still be in here even if I hadn’t got a mention in the sleeve notes. The only reason it’s not number one is cos I’m very familiar with most of it, and I know theres better to come.

Sleigh Bells – Treats

I laughed when my mate declared this his “….album of the decade. Already.” But the more I listened with more I thought he might be on to something. So I stuck it in at number 10.
